NWPCA Hires Kevin Richey as Senior Software Engineer

ALEXANDRIA, VA, April 14, 2017: The National Wooden Pallet & Container Association (NWPCA) is excited to announce its recent hire of Kevin Richey as Senior Software Engineer. He replaces Curtis Wilkes, who was recruited by GOOGLE to work in its Pittsburgh, PA office. Within this role, Richey will oversee software functions of the Pallet Design System™ (PDS), to include the software’s source code and supporting computer systems.

“I was attracted by the mission of NWPCA and the technology behind PDS. The software is fully integrated with LoadSync™ and FastenerSync™, making it the premier wooden pallet product specification tool, and I’m excited to be part of it,” Richey said.

Richey joins NWPCA from RackSpace, a managed cloud computing company, where he was responsible for an email hosting system that supported hundreds of thousands of people. A graduate of Virginia Tech, with 20 years of software development and project management experience, Richey is excited to stay close to his alma mater.

NWPCA’s President/CEO Brent McClendon noted, “PDS is the best software out there for unit load packaging. It’s important that we maintain that level and continue to advance our technical capabilities.”

McClendon continued, “Kevin’s experience runs the gamut, from hands-on programming in the software languages and frameworks we use, to serving as a technical product manager and supervising a team of software engineers. We are thrilled to have him join our team.” He will work out of the NWPCA Blacksburg, VA office effective immediately.
