On May 7, 2020, Brad Gething, PhD, NWPCA, along with Bill Koffel, President of Koffel Associates, presented a webinar on fire codes related to the outdoor storage of wood pallets at manufacturing and recycling facilities.
The session focused beyond basic compliance and identified specific aspects to focus on, as well as enforcement experiences that may help guide facility managers to improve fire safety at their facilities.

Brad Gething, PhD, is NWPCA's Director of Science & Technology Integration. He serves as point of contact for PDS design support and education. He also participates in various standards bodies, promotion of research and development, and support on
other technical and regulatory issues to the wood packaging industry. Prior to joining NWPCA staff in 2013, Brad worked at Penn State University as a post-doctoral scholar, researching issues related to the phytosanitation of wood packaging and ISPM-15.
Bill Koffel is President of Koffel Associates, a fire protection and life safety
engineering design and consulting firm. Mr. Koffel is recognized as an expert in the fire protection and life safety aspects of codes and standards. He is extremely active in the development process of the industry’s governing codes, standards, and
design guidelines including International Code Council (ICC), National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), Society of Fire Protection Engineers (SFPE), and Underwriters Laboratory (UL). Bill represented the NWPCA in the ICC and NFPA processes during
the development of the new provisions and was a contributor to the NWPCA Fire Code Compliance Manual.
